The sixth annual Taupō Winter Festival will be held from 9 July until 25 July 2021. The major events will be held between Wednesday 14 July and Sunday 18 July. Schools break up for the mid-year holidays on 9 July and resume on 26 July so the festival coincides with the school holidays.
The details of the events programme have just been released. The focus of the Festival is cultural events and fun entertainment and activities for young and old. The fancy dress winter swim in the lake will this year be held at noon on Saturday 17 July at Lakefront Reserve by the Steaming Bean coffee cart. The costumes of some of those participating have been fantastic in previous years. Lots of imagination and lots of work has gone into them. There will be classical and modern musical performances, comedy and Shakespearian theatre, an ice skating rink and, for one night, a roller skating disco, an ice slide, and lots more
